| Tackle required for Ray fishing
Tackle varies due to different methods of fishing. Uptide fishing is by far the most popular. With the large tide rise and fall,8oz gemini type leads are a must on all but the smallest tides, line 18lb mono with 50 or 60lb shockleaders. Downtiding is less popular ,but still forms a large part of fishing in the channel.20-30 lb class rods are adequate, you will need sinkers in the 12oz to 2 lb range depending on the tidal conditions. If unsure of tackle please contact me direct . I will be pleased to advise you more fully into the tackle requirements.
Rays will take all manner of baits, squid, cuttle fish, lugworm, peeler crab, and ragworm baits being the most popular.
