17/18 dec Cod coming back on the feed.

Great news the sprats have started to disperse,and the cod are slowly coming back on the feed,with the whiting starting to show increasing numbers,lots of good sized thornbacks also being caught.The weather man got the forecast right,and it was a nice couple of settled days , all be it a bit on the chilly side……

Dec 9..Sprats disperse and Cod returning to the bottom to feed

Falt calm,and not a sprat in sight on the fish finder,make for a promising day.We were not disapointed the codling returned to bottom feeding with a good few fish in the 2-3lb size range boated ,along with whiting,pouting and thornback rays.

After the previous days fresh winds ,a flat calm channel greeted us,allowing Lady Helen to venture further down channel,away from the sprat shoals.The move further afield payed off,with Cod to 7lb 8oz and Thornback Rays to 10lb 8oz,along with whiting,pouting and small conger.

Dec3/4 Sprats slow down the cod fishing

The annual arrival of the sprat shoals,caused a dramatic slowdown in the Cod fishing,with only a few small fish boated over the weekend. Some whiting and Rays made up the remainder of a pleasant calm weekend.Best fish of the weekend a cracking late season Blonde Ray of 11lb 12oz…
